Archiving and Retention Policy
Archiving and Long-Term Open Access Preservation Policy
The Editorial Board of the scientific journal adheres to an Open Access policy. All articles are published online immediately upon issue release and are freely available without time limitations. This complies with the definition of Open Access established by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
The journal’s licensing policy is compatible with the majority of Open Access and archiving policies. The journal ensures long-term digital preservation and unrestricted access to all published materials in accordance with the principles of Open Access and academic integrity through the use of repositories, technical infrastructure, accessibility guarantees, self-archiving, and the published version of record.
Repositories
Full-text, real-time access to all journal publications is provided through the “Archives” section on the official journal website. The archive includes all issues and individual articles without any time restrictions.
In addition, the journal stores metadata and full-text articles in the institutional repository of the Central Ukrainian National Technical University. To prevent data loss, the journal’s electronic archive is also deposited in the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine.
Technical Infrastructure
All journal materials are archived in stable electronic formats to ensure accessibility, reproducibility, and proper citation in the future. Metadata and full-text publications may be indexed in national and international information and scientometric databases.
The journal performs regular backups of its content and monitors technological aspects to prevent risks associated with format obsolescence or outdated software.
The journal website is based on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, which supports the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). This service, developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), is designed for the digital preservation of scholarly journal content hosted on OJS platforms.
The PKP PN is integrated with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, ensuring decentralized and distributed storage, continuous access, and preservation of the original version of record. The PKP Preservation Network enables long-term preservation for journals that are not part of other archiving services (such as CLOCKSS or Portico).
Accessibility Guarantees
The journal uses stable file formats (PDF) to ensure readability of scientific content, assigns a DOI to each publication to guarantee persistent identification and discoverability, and complies with OpenAIRE standards to facilitate indexing.
All materials are freely accessible through specialized databases and platforms, including the journal’s website, the website of the Central Ukrainian National Technical University, and the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine.
Self-Archiving (Author’s Original Version)
The author’s original version (manuscript) refers to the non-peer-reviewed version of the article. Authors are allowed to use and distribute this version without restrictions regarding time and location (e.g., on personal websites, institutional websites, or public preprint servers), provided that, after acceptance for publication, they include a reference to the journal website with the statement:
“This article has been accepted for publication in the national interdepartmental scientific and technical journal ‘Design, Production and Operation of Agricultural Machines’.”
After publication, this reference must be updated to include full bibliographic details such as the year, issue number, DOI, and URL link to the published article on the journal’s website.
Published Version (Version of Record)
The published version (version of record) is the final formatted article in the journal. All articles are published under the CC BY license.
Authors are allowed to distribute their published articles and share links to them in social media and commercial repositories immediately after publication.
When sharing, distributing, or reusing articles, proper attribution to the journal as the original source of publication must be provided, including full bibliographic citation. Authors are required to include the publication URL and DOI when uploading the PDF version of the article.
The Editorial Board strongly recommends disseminating the published version of the article rather than the author’s original manuscript.
